NOW'S THE TIME TO PUT CHILDREN FIRST

There are no easy answers to the problems that we face.
If we truly want solutions, then the mirror is the place
to find the person who can change the world!
With the will, there is the power!
Why wait another day? Why wait another hour?
NOW’S THE TIME!

We debate about healthcare, welfare, warfare,
child care, violence, and crime,
Guns and drugs and second-hand smoke
and daylight savings time,
Education, term limitation, where to cut and who to tax;
And children just keep on falling –
falling through the cracks!!

Children are the greatest gift! Their future is on the line!!
Their legacy is our words and deeds,
and we’re wasting precious time
as fires of ignorance, abuse, hate, and greed so deeply burn!!
For the sake of all the children, I pray someday we’ll learn!!

Now’s the time to put children first!
Now’s the time to build firm foundations!
Now’s the time to mold the future! Now’s the time!

Now’s the time to finally realize children do as children see.
They’ll become their parents, brothers, sisters, friends,
and the heroes on TV
Do as I say not as I do and dare to just say “NO!”
That didn’t work when I was young.
It doesn’t work today and I know….

Now’s the time to put children first!
Now’s the time to build firm foundations!
Now’s the time to mold the future! Now’s the time!

I know there are those public servants
who’ve forgotten who’s serving who!
Now’s the time to let them know our interests are special too,
Because the family is the heart and soul
of each and every nation,
and WE THE PEOPLE are the sculptors
of the coming generations!

If not US, who will do it? If not now, tell me when
WE will make this world a better place
to raise our children in??
There is compassion, love, courage, concern,
hope, and a giving spirit,
and a voice for change that echoes still! And if we listen,
we can hear it!
